I'm not 100% on the fonts yet, but I'm really enjoying building something new. I haven't blogged in a long time, but want to get back to it. Kind of. It's been a back-of-mind itch for a while, but it's not just a "post things to get them out of your head" situation which is what I did with my first blog.

So I don't know if this will actually be a thing, but building it has brought me some joy.

Picked this up on a whim at a shop two towns over, mostly because I liked the label. That's not usually how I choose bottles, but it worked out.

Nose

Brown sugar first, then a good hit of clove and something almost like pipe tobacco. No harsh alcohol burn even at cask strength, which is a good early sign.

Palate

This is where it earns its price. Caramel and dark cherry up front, moving into oak and black pepper on the mid-palate. There's a real backbone here — it doesn't fall apart the way a lot of "small batch" releases do once you get past the first sip.

Finish

Long, warm, a little dry. Leaves you with cinnamon and leather. This is a sit-by-the-fire pour, not a mixing pour.

Verdict

Worth the money if you can find it near retail. At double the price it'd be a harder sell, but this one delivers.

Rating: Buy it again.

Good breakdown of why the same mash bill can taste completely different depending on which floor of the rickhouse it aged on. I'd read the temperature-cycling section twice if I were you — it's the best plain-English explanation of barrel entry proof I've come across.

Worth the ten minutes even if you think you already know this stuff.

This has been sitting in the drafts folder for longer than I'd like to admit. Bourbon & Frost is a small site about three things I care about: bourbon worth drinking, the podcast conversations that come out of drinking it, and the occasional article from elsewhere on the internet worth your time.

What you'll find here

Tasting notes — short, honest write-ups. No scorecards out of 100, just whether a bottle is worth the shelf space.

A podcast — long-form conversations, released roughly every other week.

Linked posts — things I read and wanted to point you toward, with a sentence or two on why.

I'm not trying to make this complicated. New entries show up on the front page in the order they happen, whatever type they are.

Good bourbon doesn't need an introduction. This site barely does either.

More soon.
